Rope Jumping Basics and Tips
Land on balls of feed and bring heels down. Distribute weight evenly from one foot to the other. Eliminate the double bounce -- one step for each turn of the rope, jumping JUST high enough to clear the rope. Swing rope with a wrist movement, not the whole arm. Progress from two foot jumps to alternating feet, then on to fancy footwork -- toe to toe, heel to heel, heel to toe, side taps, criss-cross, side swish, kicks and turns for more satisfactions, variety and fun. Start with intervals of 30 seconds jumping and 30 seconds resting then gradually increase jumping time until you can jump for 15 minutes non-stop. Three time per week would be ideal.
