Registration is now available for our Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Maryland Open tournament on Saturday May 13th, 2023 at the Meadowbrook Athletic Complex.
Registration for the tournament is $50 per athlete ($10 late fee after 4/16/2023). Athletes must be a registered member of the AAU. A tournament T-Shirt ($18) and and lunch ($9.50 or $12.50) may be pre-ordered as well.
Registration is now available for our 2022 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Jump Rope Winter Classic tournament on Saturday February 19th, 2022 at North Laurel Community Center.
Registration for the tournament is $50 per athlete ($10 late fee after 1/22/2022). Athletes must be a registered member of the AAU. A t-Shirt ($18) and lunch ($7 or $10) may be pre-ordered as well.
Due to COVID restrictions, this event must adhere to CDC, Howard County Recreation and Parks (HCRP), and Maryland state guidelines.
Current guidelines require:
1. Masks to be worn at all times during the competition by all judges, participants, coaches, and event staff. Masks will be worn by athletes while participating in events.
2. Lunch will not be consumed inside the facility. Lunch may be pre-ordered from Chick-Fil-A, but must be consumed outside in a picnic area, in a vehicle, or in a nearby area.
3. A small amount of concessions, such as Gatorade, water, and candy, may be sold during lunch outside. We are not able to sell concessions inside the facility.

Events Include:
Individual – A triple crown event consisting of 3 component events: Speed (60 seconds), Power (60 seconds), and Freestyle to Music (60-75 seconds).
Pairs – A triple crown event consisting of 3 component events: Pairs Speed (2×30 seconds), Pairs Power (2×30 seconds), and Pairs Freestyle to Music (60-75 seconds).
Double Dutch Single – A triple crown event (group of 3 athletes) consisting of 3 component events: DD Single Speed (60 seconds), DD Single Power (60 seconds), DD Single Freestyle to Music (60-75 seconds).
Double Dutch Pairs – A triple crown event (group of 4 athletes) consisting of 3 component events: DD Pairs Speed (4×30 seconds), DD Pairs Power (2×30 seconds), and DD Single Freestyle to Music (60-75 seconds).
4-Person Single Rope Freestyle choreographed to music (60-75 seconds).
Timed Triple Unders for 60 seconds, ages 15+.
Junior and Senior Group Routine choreographed to music (2 – 4 minutes), 8 – 24 person event.

Over the summer, 9 members of the Kangaroo Kids participated in the 2020 USA Jump Rope Virtual Nationals tournament. Our team members won 13 gold, 12 silver, and 16 bronze medals! Congratulations to all of our participants and to our Director of Coaching Nicole Meek for a great tournament during a difficult time.

Fifteen members of the Kangaroo Kids Competition Team traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympics Jump Rope Tournament July 24-27, 2019. The Kangaroo Kids were represented by Priya Antes, Cassie Baldwin, Eliza Kim, Elyse Kim, Hannah Kohlhoff, Julia Lee, Wayne Low, Emily Maddox, John Moses, Maya Proper, Foster Sariscak, Alex Shane, Kushaan Sharma, Meg Weidman, and Kaitlyn Wisniewski.
Triple Crown medals of gold, silver, and bronze are awarded to the top three overall (speed, power, and freestyle combined) finishers in individual, pairs, and double dutch groups. All fifteen members of the team earned Triple Crown medals as follows:
Fifteen members of the Kangaroo Kids Competition Team traveled to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida to compete in the USA Jump Rope National Championship June 25-29, 2019. The event featured over 490 jumpers from 46 different teams from across the nation. The Kangaroo Kids were represented by Kevin Aguilera, Cassie Baldwin, Emma Breznak, Maria Ciarrocchi, Kacie Costello, Emily Gates, Christopher Gauert, Isla Gleeson, Michael Laper, Jenna Meek, Mason Meek, John Moses, Foster Sariscak, Evelyn Smallidge, and Lily Trossman, and Coaches Gary Anderson and Cecilia Hartley. Additional adult jumpers for the team included Dianne Aguilera, Laura Ciarrocchi, and Sherri Gates.
Twelve members of the team qualified to compete in the Grand National
Championship in one or more events by having one of the top 12 scores in a
speed event, by placing first in their age division freestyle event, or having one of
the top 8 to 10 scores in a freestyle event across all age groups. For the Grand
National Championship, the Kangaroo Kids were represented 7 times on stage
for speed events and 8 times on stage for freestyle events. Jumpers that
qualified in speed events were Maria Ciarrocchi, Emily Gates, Michael Laper,
Jenna Meek, Evelyn Smallidge, and Lily Trossman. Jumpers that qualified in
freestyle events were Maria Ciarrocchi, Kacie Costello, Emily Gates, Christopher
Gauert, Isla Gleeson, Jenna Meek, Mason Meek, John Moses, Foster Sariscak,
Evelyn Smallidge, and Lily Trossman.
The Kangaroo Kids are hosting the 2019 USAJR Region 1 Tournament on Saturday March 30 at the Meadowbrook Athletic Complex. Competitor registration for this tournament is through USAJR. Lunch and T-Shirt sales will be done through Kangaroo Kids. Also, there is a mandatory coach fee for Kangaroo Kid competitors. Other competitors are not required to pay the coach fee.

Who Should Come?
Anyone interested in competition Jump Rope for fun and jumpers wanting to get ready for the spring competition season. This tournament is for both Novice and Experienced jumpers.
Events
Separate Novice and Experienced Division* in each Age – Group and Gender
Individual Single Rope Events:
Speed – 1 Minute – all age groups, alternate feet for each rope rotation;
Power – 1 Minute – all age groups, completed double unders are counted;
Freestyle to music – 60-75 seconds, all age groups;
1 Minute Timed Triple Unders – for ages 15+ only, combined age – division
* Novice = has never competed in an official jump rope competition
* Experienced = has competed in a previous official jump rope competition

8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, and 19-22
Separate Male and Female divisions
Age is determined by the competitor’s age on June 15, 2019.
Note: Age groups may be combined if there are less than 3 entries in an event age group.
